Internal data team wants to use in house tracking for reporting.

I’m not 100% clear on exactly what data they’re pulling for it (it’s segment data, so event based but not sure about source, etc), but it’s within a 10% margin of GSC.

Who has dealt with trying to align 3rd party data such as GSC, and in house data?

• How have you navigated those different sources?
• What challenges were encountered?
• Anything I should be thinking about or asking questions on?

Basically, I’m concerned about alignment and confidence on the data for the sake of getting more of it, using our inhouse as the only data source, but don’t know if I should be…

Thanks in advance for y’all’s thoughts, comments and input.

I’ve had this situation in multiple places

Imo, it doesn’t matter that much as long as it’s tracking stuff in a way that makes sense. It’s nice to have multiple data streams to know when something isn’t right - basically when the trends don’t align.

Would be interesting if you could get some server side tracking flowing in - assume it would be significantly higher given all the privacy and tracking protection now.

Basically just make sure you have a good sense of how they’re tracking and that it checks out. More about trends than having the same numbers
